If you’re looking for more motivation to improve your game, check out these key health benefits:
Walking that golf course and carrying your bag around definitely adds up to some serious calorie burn! A round of golf is estimated to be 6 to 7 miles. Consider that 155-pound person burns about 76 calories walking a 17-minute mile. Golf is a great way to combine socializing with exercising.
Being an outdoor sport, golf allows you to soak in plenty of Vitamin D. Increased exposure to sunshine is also a natural mood-lifter. Just be sure to apply and consistently reapply sunscreen to protect your skin from UVA/UVB rays.
Carry your bag with you to get an extra ab workout. Your core strength will improve as you cart the weight around from hole to hole.
Golf is as good for the mind as it is the body. Regular walking improves the brain’s memory circuits, keeping your mind healthier for longer. Staying active facilitates blood flow which is critical for a healthier, sharper mind.
Golfing gives you a chance to exercise, socialize, and relax all in one place! Staying active and catching up with friends are two great ways to reduce stress. You’ll have the chance to enjoy a peaceful environment, and who couldn’t use a break from the stresses of everyday life?
